Mancel E. Owings
82, of Carlinville formerly of Chesterfield died Friday evening, April 5, 2013, at Friendship Home in Carlinville, IL.
Mancel was born October 17, 1930, in Winchester, IL a son of David and Beulah (Welch) Owings. Mancel married Frances Gracey on October 1, 1955 in Alton, IL and they later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
Mancel served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mancel was a truck driver working for several different freight lines during his career. He retired from ABF Freight Line November 1992 after 44 years as a professional truck driver. Mancel was a member of the Church of God in Worden, IL. He enjoyed working in his yard, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and loved spending time with his granddaughters.
Surviving are his daughters, Marie (Paul) Monteith of Mission Viejo, CA, Tish (Jerry) Chism and Cindy Owings both of Chesterfield, granddaughters; Sarah (Erik) Stover, Stephanie (Brandon) Callarman, Cindy Chism, Elizabeth and Emily Monteith, great granddaughter; Oliva Stover, brothers, David Owings and Douglas Owings both from Winchester, sisters, Frances Hepworth and Donna Michaels both of Winchester and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Monday, April 8, 2013 from 11:00-Noon at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville where funeral services will be held at Noon.
Burial will take place in the Keller Cemetery, rural Chesterfield. Donations Information
