Robert "Bob" Blunt
Robert "Bob" Blunt, 81, of Rancho Viejo, Texas formerly of Nilwood, IL,
died Saturday, March 13, 2010 in Texas after a long illness. He was
born Wednesday, April 21, 1928 in Vandalia, IL, the son of James
Robert and Mamie (Ward) Blunt. He married Melba Fite Pauzon of
Carlinville on November 9, 1964. He was preceded in death by his
parents and wife Melba in 2002.
He is survived by his son Doug Blunt of Rancho Viejo, TX and
grandchildren Christopher of Tulsa, Ok and Heather of Austin, Texas.
In addition, he is survived by his sister Phyllis and brother Steve
and their families. He also is survived by a son Byron and daughter
Betty.
He worked for many years as a grocery clerk for Kroger and the A&P
Grocery Chains in Carlinville, Vandalia, and Virden, Illinois driving a
red VW Beatle for many of those years which was his pride and joy.
A graduate of Vandalia High School, he enjoyed playing baseball and
softball as a young man after service in the U.S Navy.
A lifetime St. Louis Baseball Cardinal fan, he spent many
hours watching his beloved Cardinals and chatting with his
"girlfriends" in internet chat rooms around the world with his beloved
dog named "Benji" under his chair puffing his pipe smoking Prince
Albert tobacco. He will always be remembered as "Blue Lancer" to his CB
Buddies. He was a great Dad and his son's best friend. Funeral Information
Services will be held at a later date with burial in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville, IL.
