Ruby C. Cope, 90, of Carlinville, IL, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 13, 2024, at her home in rural Carlinville, IL.
Ruby was born November 17, 1933, in Greenfield, IL, a daughter of Raymond Paul and Christine Mary (Green) Costello. Ruby graduated from Greenfield High School with the class of 1951. She married Carl E. Cope who proceeded her in death.
Ruby had been employed by the Glove Factory in Carlinville, was a farmer, previous owner of Ruby's Cafe in Greenfield and Auburn, and owner of Ruby's Fabrics in Greenfield. Her passion was with the Lions Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Moose Heart. She loved yellow roses, remembering her mother's yellow rose bush, and anything purple. Ruby enjoyed, as a younger person, riding motorcycles, and even at age 80, she loved to skydive and fly with her brother Chuck. She also looked forward to and enjoyed her visits with her brother Jerry Lee. Ruby also enjoyed time cooking and baking.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Philip Raymond Costello, Robert Paul Costello, Richard Michael Costello, Wayne Allen Costello, John Andrew Costello, Larry Eugene Costello, Randy Curtis Costello, sisters; Laura Marlene Costello, and Janet Emelene Costello.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL, with funeral services at 3:00 pm, with the Reverend Brian Gruen presiding.
Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.
Ruby is survived by her brothers, Jerry L. Costello of Pinkneyville, IL, and Charles E. Costello of Greenfield, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Greenfield Lions Club.
