Bob Hammann, 78 of Carlinville, IL, passed away Monday evening, July 8, 2024, at his home in Brushy Mound Township, Carlinville, IL. Bob was born May 5, 1946, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Carl E. and Norma J. (Culp) Hammann. Bob graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1964. In March of 1965, Bob joined the United States Air Force and served his country for several years, and held the rank of Sergeant when he was discharged. He married Sherlyn Johns on December 2, 1966, in Litchfield IL. Bob was a grain and livestock farmer keeping the family tradition alive as the 3rd generation to farm in the Brushy Mound township. He was a tractor mechanic at Rathgeb Brothers in Carlinville for 32 years. After they closed, he owned and operated his own shop until he retired in 2015. Bob was a member of the Macoupin County Fair Board for over 40 years as well as the superintendent of the sheep barn. He was also a member of the Carlinville Moose Lodge 1216, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and the Illinois Columbia Sheep Association. Bob was preceded in death by parents, and brother, Kenny Hammann. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the fellowship hall of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 East Main Street, Carlinville, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 13, 2024 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating. Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville, where military rites will be conducted. Bob is survived by his wife, Sherlyn Jean Hammann of Carlinville, IL, daughters; Angela (Eric) Pauline of Carlinville, IL, Traci Hammann of Carlinville, IL, and, Arion Hammann of Carlinville, IL, grandsons; Gabriel Pauline of Carlinville, IL, and Reece Loy of Carlinville, IL, brothers; Glen (Wanda) Hammann of Carlinville, IL, Gary (Darlene) Hammann of Peyton, CO, and Kevin (Julie) Hammann of Chicago, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
