Condolences
I had the privilege and honor of playing in the same group as Mike during the Litchfield 3-man golf tournament this past August . Even though he wasn't on my team, it was a joy to see Mike finally playing well after recovering from an illness that had frustrated him and his golf game. His putting that weekend was lights out, making these unbelievably long bombs. I will always remember that Mike Guthrie grin he wore on his face that weekend, and it was obvious how excited he was about regaining some of his golf game magic. It goes without saying how much Mike will be missed at CCC and I know I'll miss playing with Mike during my future golf trips to Carlinville. I'll also never forget the ribbing he gave me for "stealing" his golf cart... My sincerest condolences to Mary & family.

We were saddened to hear of Mike's passing. As our insurance agent he was always there to help when needed. I looked forward to our conversations regarding the Cardinals. Our condolences to Mary and Cathy.
Our deepest sympathies to Aunt Mary and family.

I’m going to miss you calling me curly. I’m going to miss your kindness and your love. I will miss your hugs. I will miss you! I love you uncle Mike so incredibly much and I hope you know just how much. Letting me drive your golf cart when I was little is one of my fondest memories of you. I have so many memories and I wish I could have more. You were an amazing man. Now you’re up in Heaven with our glorious father hanging out with uncle Harold and Uncle John and golfing. I will miss you for the rest of my life! I wish I could have one more hug and hear you say curly one more time. Rest in heavenly peace Uncle Mike. I love you
Uncle Mike was an amazing person. My fondest memory I have of him was driving his golf carts when I was little. I miss him dearly. He will always be in my heart.
One of my fondest memories of growing up in Kentucky was when my Aunt Reb and Uncle Johnny would come in and visit from Illinois. I recall the stories of them living in Dayton, Ohio and sometimes I wonder if that influenced my desire to move to Ohio. The times we would get to visit our cousins Mike, Mark and Cathy were treasured times. As I aged, we made several trips to Carlinville and these were such good memories for me. Mike was always so engaging. He was proud of his hometown and loved showing us local landmarks. I imagine he was a pillar to the community and will be missed by many locally. You could hardly say Mike's name without Mary. They truly will for me be a respected and lovely couple. When you were around them, you felt good and the stories and laughs were plenty. Mike was a class act and rare gem. The world has lost a true gentleman. We send our love and strength to Mary during this tragic loss. I so wish I could make the drive to pay my condolences in person. Regretfully, I am struggling with long COVID symptoms. I am sending hugs to my cousins please know you all are in my thoughts. I like to think sometimes when such tragedies happen our God is sparing us further hardship. I will think of Mike swinging away in heaven making a hole in one everyday and driving home to Buskirk. But just the thought of him getting to join my beloved Aunt Aunt Reb and Uncle Johnny for a cold one just brings a tear to my eyes. Thank you for allowing me to know you dear cousin...you are a hero in my book.
Mike was the consummate gentleman golfer, devoted husband and great friend. Always ready to help a friend who was struggling with some (all?) part of the golf game. His love for Mary was palpable and inspiring. Our River Hall CC community has lost someone irreplaceable, and we will miss him immensely. Brian Tucker
My condolences to Mary & Mike’s family. So sorry for your loss.
Sending prayers to the family. So sorry Cathy!
Mike was such a kind and genuine man, always greeting me and Kevin with a smile on the golf course. You could feel his warm and kind spirit just talking with him, he had this way of always putting a smile on your face. He will be missed and we send our sincerest condolences to Mary and his family.

Michael and I have been friends for the past 50 plus years. During that time we literally played thousands of rounds of golf together. He was a brother that I never had. During our friendship there was never a crossed word between us. Oh, on occasion when I would do something stupid, he would laughingly say, 'You are a moron." My condolences to Mary and family. Rest in peace Michael.
One of my most amazing memories of Mike (and Mary) was, after an evening visiting sister Cathy and then husband, David, we decided we were hungry and wanted a pizza. This was many years ago. As a joke, Cathy dialed up Mike and ordered a pizza. After about 30 minutes Mike and Mary showed up with a nice hot pizza! Now, who else would do this? Our most sincere sympathy to Mary and Cathy and all the family. Mike will be sorely missed!
Mary, our sincere condolences to you and your family. We have so many fond memories of the fun times we shared at the country club during the years. We are happy we were able to see Mike during our recent visit to Carlinville. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. God Bless. Rest in peace Mike.
